Premature Ejaculation Treatment

Premature ejaculation mostly occurs in men when they ejaculate before engaging in intercourse. It is a very common problem, but if it occurs occasionally, it is not considered as a chronic condition. However, it can be frustrating and embarrassing for a man to ejaculate too soon, resulting in a loss of erection during sex and leaving the partner with insufficient time to enjoy the experience. While the duration of ejaculation can vary among individuals, ejaculation occurring within 1 to 3 minutes of penetration can be considered a symptom of premature ejaculation.

Causes:

The exact cause of PE is not clearly known, but certain physical, chemical, and emotional factors can contribute to premature ejaculation. Some of these factors include:

1. Stress
2. Depression
3. Anxiety
4. Poor body image or lack of confidence
5. Performance pressure
6. Negative feelings about sex
7. Hormonal imbalance
8. Infection or inflammation in the prostate or urethra
9. Genetic inheritance
10. Relationship problems

Diagnosis:

To diagnose PE, a doctor may begin by asking about your sex life and your relationship. A physical examination will also be conducted. If the doctor suspects that the cause of PE is primarily emotional, the patient may be referred to mental health professionals who specialize in treating sexual difficulties. If a complex physical problem is suspected, a urologist should be consulted.
